YouVersion Brings a Missiological Approach to Mobile Technology
There are few better examples of how we can take biblical principles and apply them well and in wisdom than the YouVersion Bible App for iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Java, and more.
The way I see it is this: The farther we go out on the edge the more precarious and potentially damaging we can be in terms of our use of bleeding-edge technology spaces like mobile devices. But that’s not to say that we shouldn’t try, and an obvious jump-in was the Word of God.
Bobby Gruenewald, in a recent article in NewsOK, re-iterated a number of things we’ve been hearing before but I love this particular quote:
It’s the Bible connected to this Web-connected generation, it’s something that’s connected to the culture.
And that bridge is extremely important and makes even more sense in light of his contextual comment:
We have found that when people have access to God’s words everywhere they go, they will be more apt to use them. Very few people carry a book everywhere with them. Very seldom will they be without their phone.
WTG guys, and keep up the good work. Video of Bobby and YouVersion “Live” after the jump.
